SSG Carlos Madden I never had much desire to do the Pacific Crest Trail but I do plan to do the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine one day. Not interested in setting a record time, only the record for the oldest! Good share.

I'd love to do the PCT. I'm on the east coast though so the AT doesn't have the appeal.

SSG Carlos Madden This sounds to be the norm for the most part; do the trail in your part of the country! Nothing wrong with that.

Bad knees, so that is off my bucket list for now, but I know several thru hikers that have done the PCT, AT, and the CDT. According to them, the PCT is easier since to don't gain and lose elevation the way you do on the AT. The AT is up and down hills all day long if you haven't hiked any section of it. The PCT you gain elevation and stay there for days. CDT is supposed to be harder simply because a lot of it doesn't have much support yet.
