While it is difficult to wrap my mind around the phrase "unarmed-police" I can see where there would be circumstances where an off-duty LEO would not be armed. While being a bar and, presumably, drinking might be one of them, I find it hard to believe none of those LEOs present was armed!! Beyond that, I would think their inner sheepdog would have kicked in, along with the unarmed tactics all are taught, and someone would have made an attempt to subdue the gunman. This, however, is highly contingent upon the totality of the circumstances and their locations relative to the shooter when he began his attack; no need to be a dead hero just to prove a point...

6 of them, my opinion, should have been a 6 prong swarm. Knowing one of them is going to get shot you just have to pray it isn't fatal. If the worst happens you still know your family will be well taken care of.

Unarmed police?? Uh,no. Not sure if there is a link or above story above but I didn’t see it. As a retired US soldier and LEO for 20 years now, I firmly agree the issue of a weapon to all LEO. Terrorist love safe circles. The bad guy loves safe circles. Though my “safe circle” is the max range of what I’m carrying.
