Was in Gettysburg yesterday
Cemetery Hill on July 2, 1863, where a Polish immigrant led a charge to stop a major Confederate assault that aimed to break the Union line. That Polish-born general and American immigrant, a man who loved his new homeland and vigorously defended the ideals of freedom espoused in it, was Colonel Wlodzimierz Krzyzanowski.
