Ever the people pleaser, I would love to have been one of the marines rescuing the medical students and having those beautiful young doctors hugging me and kissing on me. The girl ones anyway. LOL. Alas, I was Army. But we would have been likely one of the army units called up. President Reagan was my commander and chief.

MSgt Paul Connors you know, I thought it was the Army but then I Googled it and it said it was the Marines. Either way, I wasn't there and I didn't get the hugs and kisses. Call the wambulance now.

MSgt Paul Connors going back for a second look, the Army, Navy, and Marines all played a part in Operation Urgent Fury. No mention of Clint Eastwood was made. But it was specifically the Army units that rescued the students at the college. Go Army!

The 75th Rangers earned their pay that day. Jumping into the airfield and taking out APCs as quickly as they did in spite of several shortcomings in Intel and Logistics was nothing to be sneezed at.
