This is a really good deal. My daughter went there five years ago. She was paid at her enlisted rank, got more active duty time, and it’s been moved onto the West Point campus so she really enjoyed her time there. Really good deal for Soliers who may not be sure if they really want to go the West Point rout.

i understand, much appreciated, i hit the wrong link, not the comment link, that brought me to your profile page, I'm using the website on a PC, the behavior is slightly different, I'm afraid, I'm obviously glad the link was worthwhile, I'd spent time at West Point with an Army ROTC unit I'd been in that no longer exists, when I'd been undergrad, I only found out much later that a PMS/PNS/PAS of an ROTC unit can apparently nominate for the academy for their own service, had I known back then, I'd obviously have asked, in retrospect...i often try to answer on threads dealing with education or career stuff, so I've frequently suggested all three of the prep schools to several others on here, that is interesting what you'd said, I hadn't been aware one could use it to try out academy life in quite that fashion, I'd always been rather under the impression that one was pretty much expected to commit to a given academy after going through one of the corresponding prep schools, I also hadn't realized it was, as you'd also mentioned, moved onto the grounds, as well...

The retention rate for prior service is about 80% or around there- as I remember. In my daughter’s class a few left as they thought it was too hard. PCSed back to the Army. Other were discharged for stupid stuff like drinking.

Capt Daniel Goodman - That is true, We had Cadets at Bordentown Military Institute, Bordentown, NJ where I had been a Cadet in their Army ROTC program that were appointed to service academies from the school itself. BMI was an Army ROTC Honor school. I may add they had played football games against the West Point Prep School. BMI also had a Post grad years which was one year beyond the regular diploma. Our Commandant of Cadets during some of My time at BMI was a graduate of the USMA , West Point as was the Assistant PMST/Professor of Military Science and tactics who prior to West Point had attended the Prep school at PMC, Pennsylvania Military College.

This is an excellent way to enter the USMA and I may add also the USAFA and the USNA also have prep schools for their academy entrance preparation as well, this is a good path to continue into the service academies.
