Rommel said in his Attacks book to bypass or avoid the cities and built up areas. Surrounding Mosul should be considered. Starve them out!

Excellent point - the tactics being used are closer to that of the the Italians used for planning the First Isonzo then they are for mobile warfare in which one places the mobility and speed of the force into allowing for encirclement by penetrating through weak areas and forcing a defender to spread his resources or risk encirclement. Is there an encirclement of Mosul? Nope. But the real question is how capable is the IS commander - and how has he planned for this fight. If he is good - then he will already anticipate what the Iraqi forces will do and where... and be waiting for something to occur. ....

The ISIS fighters are more fanatical and will last longer and Go Suicide every chance they get and make this battle amor complexed then the first time... It's a Shame BHO Shot off His mouth and Pulled The US out too early ... and allowed the fledgling Army be cut down and nearly destroyed,... by his creation " ISIL"...

Probably the most detailed review that have seen -- and something that would have thought would have been done earlier by someone. It took two goes for me to finish it.
