US Army Deserter Found Nearly Two Decades Later in Indiana, Police Say

A very poor decision in his part. I used to be assigned to tracking military deserters. Every deserter I caught regretted their decision as it made their life miserable. They were always looking over their shoulder.

Even if he never got caught, it looks like the choice to desert put his life in a pretty bad place. He couldn't get a car, could only work jobs where they pay him under the table and everything that follows from that. Sounds pretty crummy.
