Those strap packs are required to hold some 45- 60 tons of centrifugal force per blade root as I recall - along with associated "flexion" factors. Hugely important that corrosion not come into play.

Wow, NOT TAKING THEM. That’s the gutsiest move I’ve ever seen Mav. In the early 80s, I saw the Cobra fleet grounded due to the Kamin Composit Blades. We had a Cobra lose a tip weight at the NTC. The composite blades came off and the metal ones went back on until there was a fix. Six months later the fix was to drill a one inch hole through the tip weight and blade and put in a nut, washer, and bolt.
