US Army to Field New Sidearm Down to Team Leader Level

I can see the pros and cons of pistols down to the team leader level. The big con for me is another weapon system to maintain on top of what they got and additional ammo to carry. Yea, it's only 9mm, but when you're maxed out is it really necessary? Maybe I am old fashion and out of touch, but doesn't the M4 Carbine meet the needs? I can see a crew served weapon's team carrying pistols, but I don't see the need for team leaders to.
