Aha! So THAT's why they're not going to be nuclear powered. I think that's a mistake. Tthose lasers, admittedly secondary weapons, are going to need ridiculous amounts of electricity. I imagine that a nuke plant might be able to power them directly, reducing cycle time and reducing the cost per shot to near zero, vs burning fuel to charge capacitors.
I also think the number of these that they plan to build, two, is spot on. You'd rarely need their throw weight, and probably never need their C2 capability in three or more places at once. DDG(X)s would be more than enough for most scenarios.
