Interesting. Lebanon has had close ties to Cyprus though the centuries too. Wondering if it is part of the "Eastern Mediterranean Energy and Security Partnership Act that U.S. legislators approved in 2019."

Turkey is a NATO ALLY, wee have sided against them again and again. Turkey had a large contingent in the Korean War and still had troops there in 1964. Our Foriegn Policy is formulated in Jerusalem

SSG Edward Tilton The U.S. Marines were part of a multinational force sent to Lebanon in August 1982 to oversee the Palestinian withdrawal from Lebanon.
The Sabra and Shatilla massacre was 16 - 18 1982 September, engineered by Israel, which was not the "appropriate" way to "withdraw" Palestinians from Lebanon.
The Beirut Barracks bombing was October 23, 1983.
Perhaps we never should have sent our military to Lebanon.
