You sound like a missile tech on my last destroyer. We were running an exercise with a sub and he dropped an ASROC dummy torpedo on the sub. To score a successful hit you have to enter the water about 20 feet from the sub. They get upset when you bounce one off the tube. PO1 William "Chip" Nagel
