Good for us, bad for NK and China. Sounds like the South Korean Presidential candidate is finally coming around.

The "complex" questions are laughingly easy to answer if one has spent a year soldiering near the DMZ. Yes we want it working before the election so if the new president decides to reopen the "sunshine policy" and give North Korea anything they want including plenty of hard cash to buy the tech they need to complete their nuclear ambitions, we need THAAD in place to at least defend our forces in the region. Of course this upsets the "balance" in the region, China can no longer be the bully and force everyone to dance to their tune. If a new war breaks out they can't launch a few missiles to "defend" their ally North Korea about the big bully South Korea.

Thanks for your comment and much more for your service to this country. When you have actual skin in the game, a contest loses any cuteness or ambiguity. The South Koreans could buy their way out of this contest of wills with the North Koreans but the third countries on each side are Great Powers so that changes the dynamic. The North Koreans might be determining how much gaff they can cause the USA to take. I do not think that the little dictator grasps American resolve.

Interesting article SSgt Robert Marx. Would they rather wait to have them in place after an attack? Also of they are worried about the North missiles...they need to move much closer.
