Instability in Yemen continues to grow due to the ongoing conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran. In the last two weeks more than 150 people died in Yemen as the result of suicide bombers, a hospital was hit (doctors without borders) 5 were killed and 10 were injured, the Iranian embassy was struck (reports only injurys). The total number of deaths is now reported to be more than
2300 of which 93% are civilians. Attacks are happening between any and everyone, it's not just Saudi Arabia and Iran, numerous Sectarian groups are taking advantage of this instability to wage war on "each other".
In light of the increasing threat level, the decision was made o pull U.S. Special forces out of the area. They had been there to train Yemeni military forces in counterterrorism measures, gather intelligence, and provide eyes on target for directing airstrikes. This decision was made following Al Qaeda capturing Sana'a (the capital of a southern province of Yemen) on Friday.
