My USAA membership is one of the greatest benefits I have ever received for serving. One of the most honest advertising taglines I've ever heard is theirs: "We know what it means to serve". As for the VFW, I am a proud life member of one of the most active service oriented posts in the world, serving active duty personnel as well as veterans: Dana Point VFW Post 9934

Not a member, I did serve in a combat zone for 4 months and did get shot at twice but that's no where near to what my friends did and I was mostly attached to ASA and did Field Radio Repair related stuff more than anything else.
