I do not even understand this logic, lets place a land mine near private property with kids and pets and what? Hope nothing bad happens. They even set them up to attract animals so of course a pet is going to go for it.
What sick %^&$ does this? If I was that family the law suit would never end. I have other things id like to do to any one that harmed my dog but I wont post that here. This... this is just insane.

All kinds of folks in Bannock County, including the Sheriff, are highly pissed about this.

We have half a dozen three legged dogs in my area because guy trying to collect bounties on coyotes keeps putting out traps on other peoples properties. I keep goats and have found his traps in my pastures. I leave a note that gives the GPS coordinates for where he can find the traps. It is the deepest point of a nearby lake.

I never heard of these devices, but folks in the sector are probably familiar with them. It's hard to prevail legally vs. US government but possible. I'd hope they will get smarter with warnings and precautions but with cuts to programs that's a broad assumption. Sorry for the loss of their pets but it could have been far worse. Sounds like the boy got lucky this time.
