I never saw the USS Sequoia, but I did see the USS Potomac, later the MS Potomac when it became the Maryland State Yacht (also used by the Maryland Department of Tidewater Fisheries to patrol against intruding Virginia oystermen. My last sight of it was as a rusting, half sunk hulk in Los Angeles harbor. Sad. I hope the Sequoia met a more befitting end.

Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on March 25, 1933 President Herbert Hoover accepted the newly commissioned USS Sequoia as the official presidential yacht.
