OMG!! Bottom line, the federal government does not want to hire any more people when they know that they totally should. Also, I have been a veteran during a Republican administration and Democrat. Want to know the difference? Simple, there isn't any. There were ungodly wait times then and there will continue to be ungodly wait times now. The VA is a mess. In Denver, they are investigating why it is taking so long for the additions and renovations to the hospital to be completed. We as Veterans cannot do this on our own. Our elected officials are failing us. Republican and Democrat, they are more focused on themselves and partisanship. In the end, we are the ones that are going to lose.

I have mixed feelings here. Bad with the VA HUD program. I will defer to a later date to elaborate on this. Good, in regards to mental health. Good, PCP and nursing staff.

As I learn more and more about the VA, I become optimistic and pissed off. I get optimistic because they say and put out ways that are going to help Veterans and the plans look good, on paper. I get pissed off due to the realty of what really happens. To all my fellow Vets out there that read this, the best way to get what you need/want is to use your VetRep (DAV, VFW, TXVets, and the like). They have more clout than you do. Put those people to work for you, that's what they get paid to do. There will be times when you'll have to deal with the VA yourself, but your VetRep can a lot of the work for you. Don't feel guilty about what you have earned. I know of few civilians besides FFs and POs that have made the sacrifices and put their lives on the line like the military. You earned it, go get it. It's worth the wait. The sooner you put in the claim the less time you'll have to wait. Remember that unless you've been out less than a year, you get paid from the start date of your claim. Jump through the hoops and play the game. In the end receive your benefits, you earned them. Out...
