Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Navy Veteran Guy V. Amgurgey. Guy served during World War II.
Guy was born in 1911 in Stanton, Kentucky. By the late 1930s he was in his second marriage and working at a Chrysler plant in New Castle. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, Guy enlisted in the Navy.
After taking his boot training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Guy was assigned to Trinidad. While a brand new destroyer was visiting his station in Trinidad, Guy traded duties with a sailor and became a machinist mate second class.
