If you are fast approaching "old age" and I use that term lightly, and you have VGLI which you purchased after separation and retirement from Active Duty (where you most likely had SGLI - Servicemember's Group Life Insurance), this is some good info. I just turned 59, so the rates are not substantially affecting me at this point, however if I manage to outlive most of my other male relatives and can live to make it to 70 or especially 75 and beyond, the rates take a significant jump and may become cost prohibitive.
