“Citi is committed to supporting the men and women that have served our country in their transition to civilian life. Veterans possess unique skills and we strive to provide them with the resources to transfer these into employment opportunities in the financial services industry,” said Suni Harford, Citi’s Regional Head of Markets for North America. “The sixth annual VOWS Symposium was an effective forum for us to collaborate with our fellow financial institutions on how we advance veterans’ employment issues and implement best practices in hiring and retaining veterans in the industry.”
“Veterans risk life and limb in service to our nation, and it is our duty to support and assist veterans in their transition to civilian employment,” said John Eydenberg, senior VOWS corporate sponsor and Vice Chairman, Corporate & Investment Banking, Deutsche Bank Americas. “The annual VOWS Symposium, now in its sixth year, celebrates the unique skill set of active duty service members and veterans and connects them to employers on Wall Street and across all industries through the VOWS consortium.”
“At Goldman Sachs, we recognize the valuable experience and traits that military veterans bring to the workforce, such as leadership, teamwork and problem solving,” said Jeff Schroeder, Chief Administrative Officer of Goldman Sachs. “As a cofounder of Veterans on Wall Street, we are proud to host the sixth annual VOWS Symposium that brings together key leaders across the public and private sectors to discuss the important issues that veterans face during their transition to the civilian workforce.”
“The men and women who serve in America’s armed forces help to make our country safer, and, as employees, offer the skills, education and experience to make the financial industry better,” said Joe Abruzzo, Head of HSBC Private Bank in North America. “We support VOWS not merely to honor our veterans, as important as that is. Our deeper purpose is to help these top-notch people find a professional home in banking. They are the caliber of job candidates that HSBC wants to hire, and if not with us then with at one of the other financial services firms in the VOWS consortium.”
VOWS is also the presenting sponsor of the Stand Up for Heroes concert benefiting the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which will take place on Tuesday, November 1, at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. For more information about Stand Up for Heroes, visit
