I was an AF brat. My dad was a VN veteran and I served 25 yrs in the Army myself. The veteran community is a community and family in itself. I do my best to bring others into the fold but due to ill feelings from prior experiences it is not always easy. Sometimes it takes a family tragedy for us to be accepted into the organic family. Even once the time is over I still do my best to keep the line of communication open and really hope that a positive relationship is created. We have a responsibility to ensure not one of our Veterans or their families feel alone, ever.

SSG Steven E. I am sorry for the loss of your father. I am glad that he had buddies that understood him, and helped support his family in their time of need. Thank you for sharing the "Vietnam Veterans Honor Song," and your welcome home. Excellent post!
