Vintage photos capture the passion and restlessness of East Germany's youth

Photography from German Democratic Republic -- otherwise known as East Germany -- has received limited exposure in the art world, not least due to the strict limitations imposed by the former authoritarian state.
But at the Rencontres d'Arles photography festival in the south of France, curator Sonia Voss is shining a light on the works that emerged in the last decade before the fall of the Berlin Wall.
