"Herring filed the lawsuit against Windsor after his office conducted a 14-month investigation into data that revealed Black drivers made up nearly 42 percent of traffic stops conducted by the city's police, according to The Virginian-Pilot.
Windsor police were also found to have searched vehicles driven by Black citizens more frequently than those with white drivers despite Black drivers being a minority of the state population, The Virginian-Pilot reported."
That's very, very telling.

I hear what you are saying SFC Fuerhoff. Unfortunately that part of Virginia still tends to be firmly entrenched in old values (yes, I know, I'm being somewhat soft here). The fact that you still have racist enclaves, and not just in the South, does not make for ALL police to be the same bad apples. I, for one, would hope they could be prosecuted.

This is the kind of stuff that gives Police Officers in general a bad name. Makes it too easy for police detractors to paint a lot of good officers with the same bad brush.

Can we just stop with the "NoT AlL CoPs" or "iT'S juSt A FeW bAd ApPleS" narrative? It's getting tiresome.

There are a lot of good/great police officers. Unfortunately there are a lot that cover up for the bad ones which makes their actions ultimately bad and hence gives many the impression all cops are bad. When the real good cops start standing up against abuse and illegal police practices then there will be a separation of a good vs bad cop and societal trust will grow in ALL demographics

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - Tiresome or not, it is fact. Not all cops are bad and there are just a FEW bad apples. Or would you rather be broad brushing, because that works both ways or rather in a lot of ways that are perhaps unintended.

COL (Join to see) - Problem is that is true for nearly any demographic and while yes, there are likely some cops that do cover for bad cops, that number is on the low end. People tend to take a narrow tunnel vision approach and assume that cops should know what their fellow cops are doing and that is just outrageously stupid. For an example of this, did you know everything good or bad that your soldiers were into in your various commands? This is what too many expect. That "as you were a cop in the precinct" with him or her, that you should have known they were dirty or bad. And reality is it just does not work that way. There MIGHT be a few that know or suspect, ... MIGHT... but the average dirty cop is much like the average dirty SM. They keep it to themselves.
