MG Butler has valid points, but the remedies are out of date.
There was good reason in his time to continue building the military industrial complex. WW2 was not rife with chemical warfare as his prediction suggests. The 125 million casualty estimate may have been an exaggeration for the paper, but when the Japanese expanded in the Pacific 3.5M were lost in the Dutch East Indies alone.
