Sounds like a good topic to start the New Year COL Mikel J. Burroughs!
It can be therapeutic to ‘tell your story’, as difficult or painful as it may be. Putting feelings into words often facilitates recovery. I began keeping a journal in HS and it definitely kept me sane (?) in Basic Training. In my professional career as a behavior therapist, I encouraged my clients to ‘tell their story’ or at least keep a journal. By putting thoughts into words or into paper, you are able to clear you mind of repetitive thoughts which could be the cause of distress...just my two cents

Yes, putting your thoughts on paper does help your situation.
What's it doesn't do is defend your reasoning for your words. I couldn't do it, my mouth went dried, my mind blank and fear ran through my being. My ex would make me feel as if every word was a knife through the heart. The only Trauma that i went thru my life and once I was strong enough I got out of the marriage after 18 years.

Finding the strength and courage to get out of a traumatic relationship is extremely difficult. I am glad you found the strength you needed. Many don’t and end up seriously injured or dead. I hope you are healing and the emotional scars take time to heal. Best of Luck to you Ma’am. Message me if you ever need someone to listen, I am here for you, Nancy CPT Carolyn Andrews

Thank you my friend COL Mikel J. Burroughs for extending the invitation to the Saturday’s Warriors for Life (WFL) Virtual Group Support Community Services 2 January 2021 with the “Colonel” hosting! on Saturday, January 2, 2020.'
Hopefully the “The Healing Power of Telling Your Trauma Story!” will cathartic for many.
