It's kabuki theater without the cool costumes and make up.
All hat, no cattle.
That dog don't hunt.
It's just Democrats filling up their campaign war chests. Oops! That may be considered a weapon of war. They are adding filthy lucre from their devious funding sources.

I am not a Democrat, but the Republican Party moved away from ~me~
The thing is Dems aren't coming for our guns. Illegal guns are a serious problem. Add that to the many, many mass shootings and I get why they're trying to do something. I was in the middle of a hostage situation involving an angry, armed man, a terrified wife/mother/human, and an infant. I was visiting Daddy and Marmie in OK and their place had the best view of the situation, so the LEO's asked (?) to use the place as the command center. The SWAT team eventually breached. A couple of gunshots were fired and I had to (gently) tackle Marmie when she got up to get a better look (!!!) No one was killed and the SWAT rescued the woman and baby. Oklahoma doesn't require ~anything~ for long barrels (or sidearms as long as the weapons are carried openly. And they are.
I had to go to town with my sister and there were so many people had handguns on their hips it was unsettling, especially when young White men had two. They wore them on both hips like gunslingers. I don't know many ambidextrous shooters and those fellas were not required to be trained.
I imagine most of us have been around experienced shooters who accidentally discharged their weapon. Can you imagine the danger of sidearms in the hands of people with zero training who are out in public? Zero training in threat assessment, shooting, maintenance, or even gun safety?
I'm a Texan. I was taught gun safety at such a young age that I don't recall a time when I didn't know it. I've been shooting since I was 10. My daddy, step-dad, and adoptive father are all military veterans. I had a sweet chrome plated .25 with mother of pearl grips since I was 18. I'm accustomed to firearms, but OK?
I was shoook.

They should address illegal firearms on its own and keep it entirely separate from any other issue.

Connecticut is paying for the stridency of it's pol's anti 2d Amendment position. It's firearms' industry is closing shop and moving, taking hundreds of taxpayers and their high paying jobs elsewhere.
With it's insane gun accessory laws, it has also created tens of thousands of criminals as the law is widely ignored. Seer stupidity that only decrease trust in government at a time it barely exists.

January 6th I would have been adding to an arsenal if I could've left the dang sofa. I had my own (young, White, anti-BLM, pro-police, well-intentioned but misguided) nephew at the Capitol Building. When my sister asked my opinion I told her he ought to be in jail. How many state lines did he cross illegally with intent to "impose justice" and "save" his country?
