Still remember hearing the advertising jingle in Japan decades ago. Aji, Aji, Aji Nimoto, it was for MSG. Late 50s.

It was also big on Philippine TV ad, and used a lot in local dishes. I hadn’t heard of it until I was in country. Connecting to race? Seems like a stretch to me, certainly hasn’t affected the foods I eat….

MCPO Hilary Kunz I learned long ago not to question the ingredients of a dish served in Asian countries. If it’s good eat and enjoy. I do admit, I had to pass on a lot of cuisine in the PI. Sure wish I could get some good Lumpia though. I was there on port calls late 50’s - early 60s.
