West Point Cadet Caught Red-Handed Playing With Her Smartphone Mid-Graduation March

SFC (Join to see), absolutely! My USAFA coworker here told me they would not let a Cadet graduate if they pulled something like this back there. I'm waiting for the West Point statement on this matter if they choose to release one.

Yes, talking/texting on a cell phone while marching in formation is unacceptable. I don't think, though, that one can draw the line from the activity of one cadet to a generalization about the decline of the officer corps. I also don't think its fair to generalize about "shenanigans at West Point" from the activity of one cadet (although I do love the use of the word "shenanigans). There are PLENTY of shenanigans that go on at West Point, but I don't think talking/texting on a cell phone while marching in formation is representative.

Also, the 2LTs that just graduated from the Class of 2016 have a few years before they become responsible for administrating UCMJ, so they'll have plenty of opportunities to be mentored by their commanders and NCOs....you shouldn't worry too much on this point.

I'm also not certain that USMA maintains UCMJ authority over graduates or if a graduate's gaining unit gains UCMJ authority post graduation--its an interesting point, for sure.

I had put this list, David Letterman style, on why she was on the phone. I took this from another post on the same silly/disgraceful subject...
Maybe the graduation was not important to her because:
1.She, like others, cant be away from social media for more than 20 minutes or they go bonkers and suffer from ADD.
2. Even though this recent graduate has a life, she prefers to keep up with the always divorcing, vane, boring and weight gaining Kardashians.
3. She had to brag to others that she made it and could not wait for the ceremony to finish.
4. She is a microtrader and she had to make some money on the side after watching the Mad Money Show.
5. She was making plans to go to Disneyland
6.She had to keep up with the international situation and US troops in theater because she wants to know what is going on in the event she gets deployed as a Civil Affairs Officer
7.She could not wait to read about the losers like Miley Cyrus and other nutcases in the National Enquirer.
8. She was trying to see about getting a deal on a new 2016 Dodge Hellcat.
9. She is just an online addict on facebook, twitter or even RP!
10. She was ordering a pizza from Papa Johns 2 topping pizza for $8 Code: You are viral
