well, there is free speech, and there is breaking a protection line, if the SS told him once to back up, and he refuses to comply, I have no sympathy for him. and since they are still talking about the bill for repeal, there is nothing final for him to be able to comment on. If he were to comment at this point, in my opinion, it would be foolish and not his position to do so, he, after all is the Secretary (effectivly the CG, who, while he has his own opinions, does not decide the battle he faces, that is passed down from Corps and further up the chain) he only gets to decide HOW he skins the cat, not which cat to grab.

The SS did not arrst him, they were not involved at all, local cops arrested him on a realy weird charge that is going to get their pants sued off. He did noit violate and established SS security line or cross a police barricade,

Where did you get the idea that the SS was involved in the arrest? from, Unlike the local PD whio did arrest him the SS usually does not hire idiots A reporter "causing a disturbance by yelling questions." is not committing a crime neither would be a citizen doing the same.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - I may have misread, but it sounded to me that he had pushed passed them more than once, once, maybe twice I can go with, but if they have to push you out more than that, then you are obviously not getting the message to stay at a respectful distance, You are correct that SS did not perform the arrest, that is local LEO action, but they can request a detention and then it is up to the locals what if any punishment is awarded.
While I will agree that reporters have a valid job to perform, they are not gods or kings, they have to follow the same rules as the rest of the folks. And it sounds like he is a known actor to the local departments, so for my own opinion I will label him a drama queen and relegate him to a non issue status in my mind. Rules are in place for a reason, we may or may not like one, but it is there and a person needs to follow it until it is changed. With the vitriol from the left, the threats of personal harm to administration officials is much higher than in the past, and with the black marks already against the SS, they may be a little extra touchy these days in protecting their primary, so I am understanding with them and their actions in this instance. not to mention that I am sick of the Monday morning QB's most of whom have never been in a situation even remotely close to what they are talking about, telling people how to do their jobs. If they have done incorrectly it is the job of THEIR bosses to deal with.

The rule was streamed out of shape to apply streach ed far beyond any rational interpretation. He did not break the rule they just twisted the rule to the point of insanity.
