This kinda reads well, but I think it misses the boat. Western individualism probably, IMHO, stems from Christian salvation being a personal thing. Each soul is responsible for its own fate. Judaism, it is the community and God, Hinduism the caste and God, Confucianism and Buddhism is the family and God. You were the only one responsible for saving your own soul, and that individual onus, in a society where the Catholic Church was pretty much the sole widespread institution for hundreds of years, was seminal in developing individualism. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Mans interpretation of the bible to suit his own needs and desires leads to the separation of religions.
