Anything is possible! Every year they swim between the tail of Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands... how to do they do that (navigate)??

Before My Brother Passed Away, He Owned A Leisure Home On Contadora Island, Off The Coast Of Panama On The Route Of The Whale Migration. He Said "It Was Really Something To See", I Was Never There At That Time Of The Year And Only Saw Dolphin Off The Waters & Heard The Manta Ray Playing Around At Night. But Both Were Also Fun Experiences ~ Especially From The Back Patio, Sitting In A Chair With A Rum & Coke In Your Hands. ~~ You Know "Roughing It"!

Oct 19, 2023 · Like turtles, aquatic animals such as salmon, whales and sharks have something like a built-in compass in their heads. They can sense Earth’s magnetic field and use it to navigate. They work like our regular compasses, pointing north according to the Earth’s magnetic field.

A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney - Looked interesting, however got a 404 so did a search at the site . . . . guessing this is the item you found:
https://www.scienceabc.com/nature/animals/how-do-aquatic-animals-navigate-underwater-magnetoreception.html
Additional excellent information about how more aquatic creature that use earth's magnetic field to navigate.
And given an occasional story about how a long lost dog or cat shows up on at home again, sometimes after it is found they have traveled very long distances, there is probably more to still be learned . . . maybe even about lot more critters using the magnetic field, perhaps including people with an uncanny sense of direction.

How Do Aquatic Animals Navigate Underwater?
Aquatic animals navigate underwater with the help of Earth's magnetic field that guides their internal compass.

"Animal navigation can go a little haywire under the sun’s energetic assaults." That's for sure! Looks like scientists are realizing that many things go haywire, and are starting starting to find correlating data when they ask the right questions, that shows up as cyclical patterns associated with solar activity.
