The concept that there's going to be a Hyperwar sure isn't happening in the Ukraine conflict. We're back to WWII (and even WWI in some cases) where it's all about throwing masses of forces against your opponent.

COL Randall Cudworth: As Stalin said, "Quantity has its own quality." Russia has been fighting like this since the time of the Czars. It's questionable whether they would have won WWII against the Germans if it hadn't been for the US Lend/Lease program which provided equipment. And even then, it was still sending out mass waves of bodies, with the understanding that if you didn't go then you would be shot.
Their other style of war is to bomb everything into oblivion. Look at Syria, Chechnya, Afghanistan, etc. They believe that this will make the civilians capitulate to them and see them as their saviors. It appears stupid to us, but that is the Russian way and it's not going to change any time soon.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - That's a good series. I saw it a while back and liked it. Too bad they really didn't get into the major problem with the Russian soldiers...they were drunk most of the time on vodka, then on whatever else they could find.
