Study the FERES DOCTRINE. A service member can not sue the government for pain suffering based on medical negligence. Civilians on the other hand can sue for medical negligence on all fronts. A service members best bet is to be awarded some VA service connection benefit at most currently 100% disabled $2915

No but you are entitled to compensation through the VA for such events. You cant sue them, but that does not eliminate the burden of payment
