I could not agree with you more. I was introduced to shooting on my parents Vermont farm. While my father was doing back-to-back tours in Southeast Asia, I was roaming the woods with my Ruger 10/22 and shooting varmints with my Springer Spaniel retrieving them. Later my dad got me a M1 Carbine and I bagged my first deer. Ever heard of deer shakes....I had them bad until I field dressed and lugged the 150 pounds of dressed deer out of the woods.

My point, the freedom and self sufficiency I learned in those woods helped me to be more appreciative of nature. I learned about the power and pain a firearm can do and life took on new meaning. The seeds of conservatism and conservationism were planted walking those Vermont woods.

By all means. We need to get the word out that "gun nuts" are not really nuts. We are just passionate about the 2nd Amendment and shooting sports in general.
