Thanks SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL for sharing the VASRD (Veteran Affairs Schedule for Rating Disabilities) information which coupled with US Code Title 38 is the source for the codes used by VA. These codes are different than military medical disability ratings which are governed by 10 USC.

"The VASRD was created by Congress in an attempt to create a fair disability rating system, and the VASRD can only be changed by Congress. Although the VASRD tries to be fair, it often seems to fall a bit short. It is important to remember, though, that it is practically impossible to assign a rating for every possible condition and all its variations. To address this problem, there are numerous VASRD Principles that guide how the VASRD should be applied in more complicated cases"....By reading this, are we blaming the wrong person in regards to the VA ratings system? We're tearing the VA director a new one, along with the President for something that only Congress can modify. This is a 50yr old system that is just "now" being redone? I wonder who congress would blame for their laziness in acting on this? It's not like we weren't in multiple wars since it's creation, and one where an entire generation will be able to claim as their "own".
