PO1 William "Chip" Nagel First point I will make is that vitriol came from the right and the left during this election cycle. Trump's message was focused on specific target groups. Hillary chose to simply attack all who supported Trump.
That leads me to the second point. If one has been paying attention to the aftermath of this election, one would see that reconciliation is now the tone. President Obama, President Elect Trump, Hillary Clinton, all have made very non-inflamatory remarks about fixing the damage caused by this election cycle. It is time that we the people followed the example. Now is a time for healing. That cannot happen, unless, We the People are willing to put in the effort to make it happen. The riots that have broken out, the protests, these are not going to help the nation. They are going to hurt it. When President Obama was elected, supremacists didn't riot and destroy the neighborhoods they lived in to protest the vote. Sure threats were made, but I am pretty sure that happens to every president. Goes with the territory. It is one thing to be angry. It is another to lash out violently.
Third, there are a large number of children worldwide that need homes. It is true that there are American children that need adopting. The important thing when it comes to adoption is making sure that the well being of the child is top priority. Moving a child from one bad situation to another is not good. If an adopting family chooses to adopt from Asia, Europe, Africa, or the Americas it should not matter as long as that child is being cared for. A child adopted by an American family is an American. I know it is not that simple, but it really should be.
Fourth, the United States wants to be held up as the shining example of a free society. That means that we have to respect each other's differences. We don't have to agree. We don't have to even like a person's views, but we must without exception respect their right to have those differences. As for superficial things like skin color, gender, personal style, sexual identity, etc... those things should be irrelevant. What should matter is the quality of the person.

In my opinion, once the child is adopted into a family here from a foreign country, he is an American.
