I support any Americans going over there to fight for what they believe in, but they need to know going into it they don't have the US flag on their shoulder. We did a lot of bad things to a lot of people who also were fighting without a nations flag on their shoulder so any moral high ground we have in this circumstance is gone.

What are you even talking about? US citizens are ON THEIR OWN the second they leave US soil. When people travel outside their own country to fight there are RISKS they take. When we went to Afghanistan in the fall of 2001, after unlawful combatant Islamists who want to kill us knocked down, blew up our buildings and killed our citizens all bets were off. Many soldiers of fortune ventured to Afghanistan for one reason: Kill Americans. First months of Gitmo saw detainees from over two dozen countries, all with blood in their eyes to kill us. Patch or no patch, if you kill an innocent American there will be a price to pay.

MAJ Montgomery Granger I’m talking about the difference between the full force and might of the military being behind a rescue mission and diplomats having to negotiate for release. US citizens being killed in armed conflict against a nation our government isn’t at war with excludes them from Geneva convention coverage. This is the rationale we used to send countless people to black sites for 20 years.
