Many want to make this question about identifying illegals in the country. That’s not what the question does. We have plenty of non citizen legal residents in our country. This is about marginalizing representation of those people as well. GOP aren’t concerned about illegals voting. They are worried about legal non citizens that have the right to be represented by a politician in government. To see SCOTUS ignore the seriousness of partisan gerrymandering based on the racial and ethnic demographics of communities is discouraging. Corrupt power grabbing politicians don’t want to appeal to everyone in their district; they want to reshape districts to mirror who they prefer to see in them. How else do we explain censuses used to create districts that look like psychoanalytical ink blots.
I’m for knowing how many citizens and non citizens are in the US. I’m not for using that information to weaken representation in politics.

CPT Lawrence Cable Actually the Constitution provides representation for all; not just citizens. And as Capt Prickett reminded me, the local and state governments decide who should have voice in their communities and districts.
By your logic, the Bill of Rights wouldn’t apply to non-citizens of any category in our country. And you know that’s not true.

Capt Gregory Prickett - The original Constitution was very restrictive on just who was allowed to vote, we are a representative and not a direct democracy. Remember that only white males could vote at that time. The only direct election was Congressman. While the conditions for Citizenship have changed over the years, again a power given to Congress, Citizenship has always been the minimum qualifier for voters.

Capt Gregory Prickett - I think you need to re read Minor V. Happersett. The ruling of the court was that Citizenship did not come with an inherent right to vote. While the passage you used was included, no where in the text of the decision was the inclusion of aliens here illegally. In todays terms, a Resident Alien would be allowed to vote under certain conditions in Missouri.
I think you would be hard pressed to back up you claim about the economic benefits of illegal immigration. Even ignoring the job lose to citizens unable to compete with lower wages, in the Construction and Agricultural industries that are the source of so much of the work for illegals, they are generally working on a phony I9 as an independent contractor and pay no Social Security or Income Tax. It's the big reason they can work for 1/3 or more cheaper.

CPT Lawrence Cable Are we making up definitions now? Where does it say that representation means the ability to vote? Sounds like your opinion.
Yes both sides gerrymandering but the GOP have taken it to a whole new level and you’re full of it with the NC districts 1,4 and 12 were the only effected districts.
