It is part of the life. All the hard work we do while in the service will have a benefit in the end. No other job allows you to retire at 38 with pension and disability and be young enough to start a whole new career while getting a pension. EVEN BETTER, get another federal job and get a double pension when you retire AGAIN. The pros outweigh the cons in the end. Especially if you have a healthy family life with open communication and well adjusted children (or really good coping/resiliency).

Nothing to do with deployments, PCS moves are the item and they are hard on working spouses, especially when you PCS to an isolated region. Many broken families as a result.

"Perks" of the job. I knew some where the company was able to accommodate and did transfers.
