The advantage of the Tomahawk is that it puts US forces at very little risk. When you want to do something militarily but don't want to really commit US forces to a situation that may have political fallout due to dead service members, the Tomahawk is the favorite. It's why Bill Clinton liked it too.

Funny, I had that conversation with my grandsons this morning while taking them to school. The younger one asked me why we didn't just bomb the heck out of them, my explanation was exactly the same as yours. Occasionally, we agree. ;)

Well there's also it's ability to penetrate and go boom right where it's supposed to. I'd call that an advantage.

Waiting for damage assessment pics. One report of 7 casualties on the airfield, although we gave warning to the Russians just prior to the attacks and it was passed on.

We normally are not looking to kill a bunch of people with these strikes. That is why we attack at night. But then that could have more to do with hitting them when they can't see it coming.

Pretty impressive that all but one was on target. Still waiting for the BDA, lots of munitions on a single air field.

MCPO Roger Collins LCDR (Join to see) I wouldn't care if we warned the Syrians directly and gave them the time to bail. The point this time was the infrastructure, not demoralization through casualties. Not that I mind any Syrian military casualties.
