I personally witnessed this MULTIPLE times working in Intel. And the flip side was ALSO true. Playing fastband loose on classification of source and method data so that we can "conveniently" release information about "bad guys."
Don't get me wrong. The OVERWHELMING majority of intelligence I dealt with or created, was properly classified and handled.
But when people start playing political games with classification it REALLY passes me off.
