Most voters want moderates who are willing to compromise. Meanwhile the candidates and elected officials are becoming increasingly polarized.
I've been saying for years that moderate Republicans could wipe the floor with Democrats here in California if they would only be allowed to. But anyone who doesn't campaign on a platform of banning same sex marriage and deporting all the illegal aliens tomorrow is branded a RINO and doesn't make it past the primaries.
