Honestly France ended up becoming a target because assholes love to get a shot at a target they deem as easy. Most French people thrive on the fact that they are able to live in a multicultural society, extremists of any kind hate any society that promotes freedom to exist. Terrorists are little kids throwing a temper tantrum because they don't get their way. France made an easy target because they have little or no military force, which make them vulnerable to asshole terrorists.

France has a large North African Muslim population, and also a sordid history of how it acted in its colonies. Morroco, Tunisa and Algeria were once under France.

Because they have been taking in Refugee's for years and not paying any attention to them...and because they flew in a bombed the you know what out of Syria and other places last year.

Yes they did and yes like a lot of other Imperial Countries they have let those from their "Colonies" "Commonwealths" immigrate fairly easily on top of being a fairly open community, that does allow Terrorist a certain ease of movement and operation. I would hate to see France become a less Free and Open country/society.
