I'll keep this short...
1) Trump is not a politician. Hence, the normal political models don't work on him (because he fights back)
2) The political models the media and politicos use are fairly old. Not sure if they have been updated to incorporate the mew modes of media consumption and demographic changes.
3) MSM are a bunch of dirty full diaper babies...
