I've been in a RG31 that had one mounted up top. The operator was fine with it, but if I remember correctly, you still had to go up top to reload. Picking targets was easier, and more accurate with it. Nothing like playing COD with a live .50 cal. This was 09 though, so my view might be out of date.

No your view is accurate SSG Warren Swan . I got certified and used them in Afghanistan on Maxpro and MATV platforms. The sites and thermals were great. Range finder was awesome to have. Worked well with all weapon systems. Preferred to use 240B with it due to ammo capacity. Like you said sucks having to get out to reload but ammo conservation is greater due to the accuracy of the weapon system. Don't see many downfalls to it from my experience.
