The simple truth is that no pistol has true stopping power, and only a few revolvers do. But, as this article states, there's stopping power and there's the power of the gun to stop someone from hurting you and go look for a victim who doesn't have any sort of gun

I didn't know mice packed, but good to know. .38 should handle it. .357 for rats. Pink mist.
