SPC Margaret Higgins Tres Bien! I Took French in School (Remember en Petite) My Ancestral Home is North St Louis a German Town if ever there was one and grew up in Cincinnati another Heavy German Town so Yes I speak a Smattering of German and I'm a "Good Catholic Boy" so I've been exposed to Latin. Being Spanish and French are both Latin based Sometimes I can Pick Up on Spanish Words on Rare Occasions.

What about Puerto Rico and it's U.S. citizens. We are one of the worst Western countries for speaking a second language.

SGT (Join to see) My Grandmother Grew Up in a St Louis where the Dominant Language was German not English. They knew English but among themselves they spoke German and it was easier for them. I can Only Imagine the Crap My Lietz ancestors had to deal with Speaking Yiddish in Germany. People can call it whatever they want but it is shear Hate Mongering and Xenophobia to Me.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - My grandmother's family spoke Russian at home and some of my cousins still speak it. My grandfather's family spoke German around the house (they were Pennsylvania Deutsch).

SGT (Join to see) - I do believe the Pennsylvania Deutsch referred to Me as "English" (An Insult) Too Bad I Understood some of what they said in German when dealing with Me. LOL! Actually I loved the Mennonites in Virginia that I dealt with.

I find it hilarious when people think you're speaking about them when speaking any language other than English. What makes them think they have that much importance to others??? Ego issues...
