Why The US Navy Really Needs This One Forest in Indiana

The US had very limited defense funds, thus the Navy focused on the quality of the ships built as opposed to quantity. The hull was massive and new building techniques were incorporated. History will prove the planners and builders were correct as the US Navy won victories against the much larger British Navy.

Often the Constitution would get into point blank range of the British ship and pummel it without much damage incurred during the attack. Upon seeing the destruction of his ship without much damage to the Constitution, the British captain would surrender, and the battle would be no more.
