Why the US still has not defeated ISIS in Iraq and Syria, according to a new report

Defeating ideological terrorist organizations is like getting rid of termites and cockroaches. You may eliminate them from this place, that place, or a whole bunch of places, but there are always dark corners they retreat to where they continue to breed.

You might as well have a end-game of eliminating all evil in the world. Nice aspirational goal, short of divine intervention or some cosmic being that can accomplish that with a snap of their fingers .. not realistic.

By no way does that mean we shouldn't try though.
